CRM2TAG by Jonathan Murray
Cream of the Crop CDROM -> T.A.G. v2.7_ BBS Installation Program
Purpose: Simplify the installation of your new 'Cream of the Crop' CD on your
T.A.G. v2.7+ BBS. This is accomplished through:
1. Creation of T.A.G. *.DIR files for the Cream of the Crop CD
2. Updating T.A.G. FBoards.Dat for the new directories using
parameters defined by you
Guarantee: Unless you _really_ screw up, then this program should at least
take up some drive space on your hard disk or CD-ROM. You will
die one day, and probably pay taxes between now and then. Since
this program is FreeWare, you may request and receive a full
refund of the purchase price if it does not perform properly for
you. If it breaks (or breaks anything), you may keep all the
pieces. There are no other guarantees.
This program has been tested on the author's system, running T.A.G. BBS v2.7b
Multi-Node Beta on a Network with some really weird configuration information.
If it works here, it should work anywhere. Please notify the author
immediately if something does not work, and we will take _rapid_ corrective
action.
CRM2TAG will place *.DIR files in the directory where FBOARDS.DAT is located,
looking first in the MFiles Directory, then in the DFiles Directory. The
names of these directories are taken from your Status.Dat.
Syntax: CRM2TAG {Path to Status.Dat} [{'Cream' Drive}]
{Path to Status.Dat} = Drive:\Path of the TAG Status.Dat File
{'Cream' Drive} = CD-ROM Drive Letter the Cream CD is in
If you are running CRM2TAG from your Cream of the Crop CD,
the {''Cream'' Drive} parameter is not required
The following outlines the structure of a default T.A.G. installation.
\BBS-| (Tag.Exe, Tag.Ovr, Status.Dat)
|
|-\MFiles (Multi/Shared Files Directory)
|
|-\DFiles (Main Data Files Directory {Formerly GFiles})
|
|-\AFiles (Alternate Text Files Directory)
Using this directory structure (on drive C:) with the Cream CD located on drive
D:, the command line for CRM2TAG would be:
CRM2TAG C:\BBS D:
CRM2TAG would place the CR*.DIR files in your MFiles or DFiles directory
(whichever has FBoards.Dat).
Note: CRM2TAG uses the format 'CR#_???.DIR' for the *.DIR files. # is
replaced by the 'Cream of the Crop' version number. If these files already
exist in the destination directory, they will be OVERWRITTEN.
CRM2TAG will backup FBoards.Dat as a safety feature. The name will be
FBOARDS.CR# and it will be located in the same directory as the original.
When run, CRM2TAG allows you to set your preferences for the File areas. The
similarity between CRM2TAG and TAG BBS's File Area Editor is fully intended!
The following shows the editable fields and their defaults:
3. CD ROM path : { Default is Drive CRM2TAG.EXE is located on}
4. UL path name : {No Default, Required Information}
5. Access : DSL=50/AR=@
6. Password : ""
7. Group number : 0
8. See names DSL: 50
